Stockholm, Sweden – November 18, 2025 – TERASi has been awarded a 1MSEK grant from Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency, under the Civil-Military Innovation Programme, a joint initiative by Vinnova and the Swedish Defence Forces. The project will advance Tactical 2.0, a first-of-its-kind aerial connectivity hub designed to enable rapid deployment of sovereign, mobile, high-throughput, and secure 5G/6G networks for next-generation tactical communications.
Present day civil and military operations demand improved mobility, adaptability and faster decision-loops. As adversaries get better at electronic warfare and denial of service, the newer connectivity systems must provide resilience, redundancy, and alternative pathways. The legacy systems can limit responsiveness, expose vulnerabilities, or become quickly outdated in a dynamic operational environment.
At the centre of this innovation is RU1, TERASi’s flagship system that unites edge agility with centralized intelligence through advanced high-frequency connectivity. The Vinnova-funded project will now extend RU1’s capabilities toward Tactical 2.0, introducing a compact airborne platform for dual-use applications that delivers high-performance, secure communications even in motion or under threat.
James Campion, CEO and Co-founder of TERASi, commented,“TERASi has consistently pushed the boundaries of high-frequency performance and integration. The Vinnova award recognizes our leadership in this domain and strengthens our role in developing next-generation, dual-use communication capabilities. With Tactical 2.0, we aim to demonstrate how advanced Swedish technology can enhance both national resilience and international competitiveness.”
The Vinnova Civil-Military Innovation Programme aims to accelerate dual-use technologies that enhance defense capability while strengthening Sweden’s industrial base and international competitiveness. The TERASi project will run for nine months, starting November 2025, and includes participation in an accelerator program focused on developing a complementary civil-military business strategy.
By bridging civilian innovation with defense-grade reliability, TERASi continues to drive the convergence of speed, security, and adaptability in next-generation connectivity.
